Rusty Iron Sword
Common Weapon Card , Ref #WPN001
Overview
A plain iron blade off a punch out sheet, pitted with rust and older than whoever is carrying it. It is the starting sword of a LVL 1-5 Box Set and it cuts perfectly well, which is all it was ever asked to do.

Effect
Make a Basic ATTK by rolling d100 + ATTK SCR + applicable modifiers against the target's PROTS. On a hit, roll 2d6 and apply the Fair condition penalty, then apply the target's armor Vulnerabilities and Resistances. Iron is a slashing edge, so it is dulled by Heavy Plate (Slashing +3 resistance) and does its best work against Light Leather.
Notes
- A Basic ATTK is open to every Character. No class, Path or Branch restricts one, and this sword needs no Proficiency to swing (see Basic ATTK, pg. 5).
- Grade is set by the blade alone. A lesser Grade hilt or grip in the recipe does not change what this weapon IS (see Weapon Grade & Materials, pg. 4).
- Quality changes Value only. It never changes damage or combat stats (see Weapon Quality, pg. 4).
- Condition degrades at the end of an encounter in which the Character was incapacitated, and only a blacksmith or a party Armorer restores it. Broken weapons cannot be used in combat and add 2 lbs. per Rank.
- Rank determined by recipe.
