Slayers of Rings & Crowns (SORC)

By Ogre Adventurer

About

Slayers of Rings & Crowns © is a sci-fantasy TTRPG that takes players through 13 diverse realms. SORC features exciting combat with limb-specific targeting, killing sprees, and burning streaks. Traverse planets where technology advances furthest away from the main sun Adoria, while ancient magic is strongest near the sun, harnessing its magical properties.

Roles & Membership Status

These are two separate things. Your role describes who you are at the table or in the platform. Your membership status describes what platform features you have access to. One does not determine the other.

Roles

Roles are earned through assessment and reflect your function in the game.

RoleAbbr.Description
Civilian CIV A registered member who has not yet completed a role assessment. Can browse, post in forums, and participate in the community.
Player PC A verified player who has passed the Player assessment. Can join and participate in Online Lobby sessions as a player character.
Game Master GM A verified Game Master who has passed the GM assessment. Can host and run Online Lobby sessions. A GM must be present before any session begins. GMs can message any member directly without a request, they need to reach players quickly for session coordination.

Membership Status

Membership status is determined by whether you have purchased a box set. It is not tied to your role or your Community Points total.

StatusHow to ObtainDescription
Basic Free-download the official free PDF module Access to community features, forums, free PDF content, digital dice, Tavern Lobbies, and Trials of Combat. No box set required.
Pro Purchase a box set (includes a redemption code) Full platform access including Private Campaign Rooms, the Trading Post, Character's Home, SORC Ambiance App, and all Pro-exclusive features. The box set is the only path to Pro status.

Example: A GM with Basic status and a PC with Pro status are both valid combinations. Your role is earned through an assessment; your membership is unlocked with a box set purchase.

SORC Beyond

SORC Beyond is the free digital companion platform for Slayers of Rings & Crowns. Create an account, download the free PDF module to become a Basic member, join the forums, earn Community Points, and unlock features as your reputation in Essentia grows. There are no subscription fees.

For the full SORC Beyond experience-including Private Campaign Rooms, the Trading Post, Character's Home, and the SORC Ambiance App, a physical box set is required. Each box set includes a redemption code that upgrades your account to Pro status.

Online Lobbies support up to 20 players. GMs and Player Characters must each pass their respective role assessment before creating a lobby. Both GMs and PCs can create lobbies, but a GM must be present before a session begins. From within a lobby, private rooms of up to 5 players can be created for focused sessions. Joining a lobby you've been recruited into is free-no box set required.

Trials of Combat - PvP arenas, battlegrounds, and coliseum modes - are accessible to all members including Basic. No box set required to compete. There is no physical or mechanical advantage for Pro members in PvP - no pay to win. All combat rewards are earned in-game only. Pro members (box set) do gain access to exclusive cosmetic skins, a longer leaderboard (top 200 vs. top 100 for Basic), a fuller achievements and trophies list, and Practice Mode. Practice Mode uses fizzled spells, wooden weapons, and laser tag for ranged combat - whether the setting is sci-fi, archery, or gunpowder - so players can train against NPCs without real stakes.

The SORC Lottery is open to all members, Basic and Pro. Raffle tickets are purchased using Community Points-no cash required. Winners receive real prizes, including an annual box set giveaway.

Point Integrity Rules

What Your Points Unlock

Community Points unlock specific platform features and privileges. They do not determine your membership status-Pro is tied exclusively to your box set purchase.

Admins can message any member directly without a request, by design-Admins need direct access for moderation and community management.

SORC Cards

SORC uses a comprehensive card-based system to track abilities, equipment, companions, and more. All members can earn and acquire ranked SORC Cards through gameplay. Box sets include exclusive cards unavailable through any other means: Lore Cards with QR codes, module-specific cards, and cards of ranks matched to the box set's level. Every box set comes with essential Cards in both Common and Uncommon ranks, complete with stats, lore, and a reference code for each card.

Each Card has its original base stats, conditions, and rank. Upgradable Cards, such as armaments-are paired with a ref. Card (reference card) used to track enhancements, modifications, buffs, curses, and special traits over time. Ref. Cards can be downloaded digitally from the website or ordered by mail using the catalog in the box set.

Cards found in box sets match the level range of the module:

Module LevelCard Rank
1 - 5Common
5 - 10Uncommon
10 - 15Rare
15 - 18Unique
18 - 21Heroic
21 - 24Elite
24 - 28Legendary
28 - 30Divine

Lore Cards & QR Codes

Lore Cards are made from high-quality matte card stock and feature QR codes that link to their digital versions. The QR code must be refreshed periodically to maintain digital access. Players should keep track of their Lore Cards and avoid losing them.

Cards can be traded through the Trading Post (Pro members only). Once a card is traded on the server, digital access transfers to the new owner and the original card's QR code is permanently invalidated. Players may keep the physical card at home, but digital access-including linking to uploaded character sheets-follows the server record, not the physical card.

Lost Common and Uncommon Cards can be re-downloaded for free using your box set code, or ordered through the catalog for a fee. Cards of Rare rank and above cannot be re-issued.

Online Lobbies & Recorded Sessions

Joining a Lobby

When a player requests to join a lobby, their digital character sheet is automatically submitted to the lobby creator for review. The creator can view the applicant's server-verified achievements, prestige, gear, fellowship affiliations, and session history before choosing to approve or deny the request. All data on a submitted sheet is proven, it reflects only what the character earned through recorded SORC Beyond sessions, not self-reported or home-created content.

Roll Integrity & Recorded Dice

Every roll inside a private room is server-recorded. To ensure fairness, the Game Master must type into chat what is being rolled for before any player touches the dice. Premature rolls-any roll made before the GM declares the intent-are automatically disregarded by the server. Each character has their own assigned dice, and rolls are tied to their individual account record. Any rolls made out of order or in violation of initiative are omitted from the session log and do not count toward a character's record.

How In-Game Currency Works

In-game currency is earned exclusively during SORC Beyond Online Lobby sessions where all activity is server-recorded. It cannot be earned outside of live recorded sessions. Currency is used at the Trading Post-no real money transfers between players are permitted on SORC servers under any circumstances.

Items Eligible for Trade

Only items obtained during server-recorded SORC Beyond sessions are eligible for trade at the Trading Post. This ensures the integrity of every transaction and keeps the in-game economy fair for all players.

SORC Lottery

Our community lottery is open to all members-Basic and Pro alike. Raffle tickets are purchased using Community Points for a chance to win prizes including digital cards, store content, rare items, and exclusive merchandise. No cash required.

Digital Character Sheets

Home Sheets vs. Digital Sheets

Just as with SORC Cards, character sheets created at home cannot be uploaded to SORC Beyond-home-made sheets are for home use only and carry no server verification. However, blank official character sheets are available to all members, including Basic, to save to their device and print out for free.

What a Digital Character Sheet Contains

A player's digital character sheet is assembled entirely from data on our servers. It reflects only what the character has genuinely acquired through recorded SORC Beyond sessions-gear, cards, achievements, prestige, and fellowship memberships that were proven on the server, not claimed at home. Nothing unverified appears on a digital sheet.

Saving & Printing Your Digital Sheet

Digital character sheets can be saved and exported as a printable document. The printout includes the character's gear, fellowship affiliations, and their current standing-their role, prestige level, and session history-all drawn from the server record at the time of export.

The Trading Post

The Trading Post is the platform's player-to-player exchange hub, available exclusively to Pro members (box set required). Here, players can buy, sell, and trade SORC Cards and in-game items earned during recorded Online Lobby sessions.

No real money may be transferred between players on SORC servers. Only in-game currency earned through recorded sessions is valid for player-to-player trade. All transactions are server-recorded. When a card is traded, digital access transfers to the new owner and the original QR code is permanently invalidated.

The SORC Store

Box Sets

Physical box sets are sold through the SORC Store. Purchasing a box set is the only official way to acquire SORC Cards and the only path to Pro membership. Each box set includes a redemption code for your account.

Free PDF Modules

Lighter digital versions of official modules are available to all accounts at no cost. Downloading the free PDF module activates Basic membership and is the starting point for your SORC Beyond account. A great way to get started and begin earning Community Points.

Community Points in the Store

Community Points can be spent on select basic items and raffle tickets in the SORC Store. It typically takes a significant number of points to make a purchase, but a dedicated community member can access certain store items without spending real money.
